Fuel Express Fleet Fuel Cards are Accepted at all Amoco Stations

Amoco Fleet Fuel CardsAmoco was founded during 1910 in Baltimore, Maryland and eventually became incorporated in 1922 by Louis Blaustein. Some of the early innovations from the Amoco company include drive-through fuel stations and the gasoline tanker truck.  Today there are thousands of locations for Amoco across the nation which currently accept fleet fuel cards from Fuel Express. Due to the rise in popularity of automobiles, Amoco decided to capitalize on this market by specializing in providing fuel to families and their automobiles.

The first fuel station for Amoco was originally opened on Minneapolis, MN which is a far cry from the thousands of fueling station they have today which accept our fleet fuel cards.  Initially almost 90% of the total fuel sales for Amoco took place in the Midwest region though that number has drastically changed over the years.  Dozens of oil-drilling facilities were opened during the 1920s and 1930s including over 1,000 wells that were drilled in 1937 alone.  In 1931 Amoco created their own exploration and production business that would soon be known as Stanolind.

“Amoco-Gas”, which was later referred to as Amoco Super-Premium continued to be sold by Amoco while many other fuel companies were changing over to leaded gasoline.  Using our fleet fuel cards you can still purchase premium gas from Amoco today.  This premium fuel used a unique process that would remove the lead from gasoline and it wasn’t until the 1970s that the other fueling companies would attempt to match the process that Amoco has been using for decades due to the auto emission controls.

One of the world’s largest industrial mergers took place in August of 1998 as Amoco merged with British Petroleum (BP), who also accepts all of our fleet fuel cards at their locations.  Today there are very few gas stations that operate under the name Amoco since most have been renamed to BP over time.  Though there are few Amoco locations that still exist, the company has been instrumental in how fuel has evolved over time.  If you are interested in signing up for one of our fleet fuel cards please make sure to fill out an application.
